چکیده

An iterative procedure is discussed to estimate poles and zeros of a rational transfer function from speech signals, which takes advantage of the individual solutions of AR and MA processes. Besides speech, analyses of test signals are also carried out, which lead to optimal results. In contrast to Prony’s and related methods, the algorithm don’t presuppose a pair of an input and output signal. The proposed procedure is specialised for the analysis of periodic signals, though it can be applied to nonperiodic signals, too. The algorithm combines two known partial solutions in an iterative way. The estimation of an all-pole model is obtained by the Burg method and the estimation of zeros by using the inverted signal in the spectral domain. It can be shown that the power spectrum of analyzed speech periods can be better modelled by poles and zeros especially with respect to the gaps in the spectrum.

Speech enhancement in a Bayesian framework

WC present an approach for the enhancement of speech signals corrupted by additive white noise of Gaussian statistics. The speech enhancement problem is treated as a signal estimation problem within a Bayesian framework. The conventional all-pole speech production model is assumed to govern the behaviour of the clean speech signal. The additive noise level and all-pole model gain are automatica...

Constrained iterative speech enhancement with application to speech recognition

In this paper, an improved form of iterative speech enhancement for single channel inputs is formulated. The basis of the procedure is sequential maximum a posteriori estimation of the speech waveform and its all-pole parameters as originally formulated by Lim and Oppenheim, followed by imposition of constraints upon the sequence of speech spectra. The new approaches impose intraframe and inter...

Artificial nasalization of speech sounds based on pole-zero models of spectral relations between mouth and nose signals

In this contribution, a method for nasalization of speech sounds is proposed based on model-based spectral relations between mouth and nose signals. For that purpose, the mouth and nose signals of speech utterances are recorded simultaneously. The spectral relations of the mouth and nose signals are modeled by pole-zero models. A filtering of nonnasalized speech signals by these pole-zero model...

An Algorithm to Estimate Anticausal Glottal Flow Component from Speech Signals

In this paper, we define an algorithm with low complexity which performs a new use of the linear prediction analysis (covariance method) to retrieve the maximum-phase component of speech signals. First, we study the mixed-phase model of speech through a new representation named the Zeros of Z-Transform (ZZT) in the z-plane, which is an all-zero representation of the ztransform of a discrete tim...

Noise-Robust Speech Analysis Using System Identification Methods

This paper proposes a modified linear prediction method for speech analysis, using two system identification methods—the least-square method and the instrument variable method—for the estimation of the coefficients of an all-pole filter. Whereas the linear prediction method estimates the coefficients of all-pole filters from speech signals, which are observed output signals, the system identifi...
